Bachman-Turner Overdrive- LIVE- CD- 1994/2000/2001- Not On Label- No UPC (SLBTO 0003)- 100 grn
Replica from original Best Of Bachman-Turner Overdrive Live. LIVE is an album of concert material from a 1985 Bachman-Turner Overdrive performance in Tallahassee, Florida. The album was released on Curb Records in January 25, 1994, and should not be confused with All Time Greatest Hits Live, which was a 1990 re-release of the 1986 album Live Live Live, featuring other material sourced from the same concerts. The album is notable for being one of three releases (two live, one studio) featuring a short-lived reunion line up of the band featuring founding members Randy Bachman, Tim Bachman, and C. F. "Fred" Turner, who had not played together since Tim's departure after the second BTO album. This lineup was joined by drummer Garry Peterson from Randy's old band, The Guess Who. The set includes versions of both The Guess Who's first hit, a cover of "Shakin' All Over", and their greatest hit, the original song "American Woman".
PERSONNEL: Randy Bachman - Lead Guitar, Lead Vocals; Tim Bachman - Guitar, Backing Vocals; Garry Peterson - Drums; C. F. "Fred" Turner - Bass, Lead Vocals; Billy Chapman - Piano.
There's no recording date provided here. Given the presence of Guess Who drummer Gary Petersen (not to mention Randy Bachman's scream of "B.T.O. is back!" during "Four Wheel Drive"), though, it's probably a safe bet that BEST OF LIVE was recorded at a reunion show in the late '80s or early '90s, rather than the band's mid-'70s heyday. In any case, Bachman-Turner Overdrive's brand of charmingly fatuous blue-collar arena rock has aged surprisingly well, and the performances here betray no sign of fatigue. For good measure, along with expected radio hits such as "Takin' Care Of Business," "Let It Ride," and "Gimme Your Money Please," we're also treated to spirited remakes of "American Woman" and "Shakin' All Over," from their Guess Who days. More live performances from the BTO line up of Randy and Tim Bachman, C.F. Turner and powerhouse drummer Garry Peterson. Again this CD will not disappoint. With rousing renditions, spirited singing and enthusiastic playing through out the concerts, BTO proves they know how treat their audience to a great show. As with the previous CD (Live-Live-Live aka The All Time Greatest Hits) the cover is blah. What a minor complaint when the music is this good. LIVE is a ten-track budget-priced collection that features latter-day live versions of BTO's biggest hits. While the band is competent, they're not particularly inspired, and only dedicated, diehard BTO fans will need to explore this disc.
