FAME AND FORTUNE is the seventh studio album by British rock band Bad Company, released on 22nd October 1986. It was the first album released by the reformed group, featuring original members Mick Ralphs and Simon Kirke, with the addition of new frontman Brian Howe, formerly of Ted Nugent's band substituting for original singer Paul Rodgers. While original bassist Boz Burrell appears credited as part of the line-up, the liner notes reveal that session player Steve Price played on the album. After an extended break from the rock world, Bad Company reconvened in 1985 with FAME AND FORTUNE, but original singer Paul Rodgers failed to make the trip. His replacement, Brian Howe, was briefly the vocalist for Ted Nugent's band, and proved to have a flair for melodicism on Bad Company's seventh release overall. The veteran band couldn't resist sprinkling some then-current rock sounds throughout the album (namely keyboards), but songs such as "This Love," "If I'm Sleeping," and "Long Walk" prove to be just as enjoyable as anything else on rock radio circa the mid-1980s. As for the music itself, this album is sub par for Bad Company. Luckily, they would get better on their next album, to them just trying to find their niche. If you're looking to get into non Paul Rodgers era albums, go for Company Of Strangers or try Dangerous Age.

Bad Company in a new phase. While Paul Rogers will form the band The Firm with some well known and excellent musiciansafter living Bad Comapny due to no musical direction of the band, a new era beggins for Bad Company. On vocal departement will apper Brian Howe ex Shy (an obscure UK band from early '80s) and aswell being part in Ted Nugent line up from Penetrator period 1983. So, what about this new Bad Company, musicaly speaking, a so-so hard rock album, typical for that period, more towards hair metal that will fit perfectly in mid '80's musicaly context, but again not bad just pale and with out force to capture the old bands sound. Aswell the keybords will apper in sound giving a modest sound overall even this type of music was very popular in thet period mid to late '80's. No more Gold or Platinum status, only a mediocre comercial succes. Quite contrary to the title of the album, was not by far fame and fortune in bands career. So after this unsuccesful album in Bad Company career, Boz Burell who apper in album line up but not playing on it, will departure after the tour of this album in 1987, living place to Steve Price on bass. Simply stated, the 1986 released of the ten song FAME AND FORTUNE album isn't up to the standard established by the classic seventies Bad Company line-up.
