COMMUNIQUE is the second studio album by British rock band Dire Straits, released on 5 June 1979 by Vertigo Records internationally, Warner Bros. Records in the United States and Mercury Records in Canada. COMMUNIQUE was the last album to feature David Knopfler, who left the band over creative differences with his brother during the recording of their third album in August 1980.

It is obvious by the end of 'Once Upon a Time in the West' that the main singer, songwriter and virtuoso guitarist has an ability to combine his expressive finger-tip play and laid-back storytelling. From that moment on, a number of characters come and go. Mark Knopfler describes everything with such a detail in order to make the listener visualise the scene and he does it astonishingly good. This re-issue is the opportunity to give the band’ sophomore album the attention it really deserves.
