The WOODSTOCK SESSIONS is very unique as it was recorded employing two sets per day, one electric and one acoustic over two days. The songs are part solo career and part cover as he does a killer version of The Velvet Underground’s “Oh! Sweet Nuthin’' showing different sides of his musical persona and makes this release unique and the gem of his re-releases. Not only are this album exciting, but, remember, they come on the heels of a new Robinson solo album. Rich was a founding member of The Black Crowes. Along with older brother Chris Robinson, Rich formed the band in 1984 (originally called Mr. Crowes Garden) while the two were attending Walton High School in Marietta, Georgia. Robinson was influenced by The Rolling Stones, The Allman Bros., Cactus, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Neil Young, Captain Beyond, R.E.M., Led Zeppelin, John Fahey, and Nick Drake. WOODSTOCK SESSIONS was released on 1st November 2014. It's the latest release in the Woodstock Sessions series. This set spotlights ex-Black Crowes guitarist/songwriter Rich Robinson in a live performance with his band. The album features extended version of some of Robinson's greatest hits, selections from 2014's CEASELESS SIGHT album and some electric covers. A must-have for Crowes fans, lovers of Americana, thoughtful songwriting, and guitar freaks everywhere.

There’s something special about an artist who seeks out the opportunity to record an album in just two days, and it’s even more special when that album is recorded in front of a live audience. On 31st May and 1st June 2014, Rich Robinson invited an intimate group to Applehead Studios in Woodstock, N.Y. to join him as he recorded a new album. More than just bystanders, the fans witnessed the production and actually became a part of the fabric of the record that you’re listening to. They were sitting in the studio, just a few feet from Robinson. They interacted with the band, they looked over the producer’s shoulder. Beyond the different variables that are hard (maybe impossible) to control in a live setting, this type of experience creates a very vulnerable environment for the artist. While it might distract some, it seemed to only enhance Robinson’s performance and connection with the crowd. Seasoned fans were granted insights into the artist’s process that could not have been gleaned through years of listening. Those two days will forever be a part of the aura that is Woodstock. Sure, Robinson is no stranger to the magical town, having recorded solo and Black Crowes music there, but something remarkable happened during these sessions. You’re holding it in your hands, you’re listening to it. An organism was created. The artist, the fan, the producer — they’re all a part of this single, cohesive entity. You didn’t have to be there to feel the relationship between Robinson and the crowd — it’s on this album. There are no half-truths or dividing lines that over-polish this music. What happened on that weekend is captured here forever, an eternal musical document that intends to honor all those involved, including you.
