Popa Chubby, songwriter and guitar virtuoso with twelve different songs which melt the various genres with the Popa Chubby blues. Funk meets soul and jazz, reggae on rock. On his release THE CATFISH, Popa Chubby offers up twelve tunes that embody the badass attitude that defines the self-proclaimed "King Of The New York City Blues”. THE CATFISH is aptly titled as it delivers punch after punch of musical inspiration drawing on 25 plus years of street smarts and road worthy musicianship. THE CATFISH embodies the concepts that make Popa Chubby who he is. Regal and Delicious, the recording shines with multiple flavor and worldliness. Popa Chubby broaches a wide variety of musical styles and themes on this recording and the songs stand as individual works and as a collection. The authors personal favorite on the album is an instrumental offering entitled "Blues For Charlie". Horowitz wrote and recorded this after the two massacres endured be his beloved adopted second home Paris.
The title track defines the record as Popa Chubby tells the tell of the master of the river. The Catfish. The Pimp Daddy, The Big Boss! The song romps with a Stones infused Rock and Roll timelessness. When asked what he wanted to achieve with this record, Popa Chubby simply said: "Bigger, Badder, Older ,Wiser , Louder, Stronger.”

But to put THE CATFISH down as a normal blues album would be too simple. Instead, the singer, songwriter and guitar virtuoso indulges in twelve new songs of the most diverse genres and brings them together only under the cloak of the blues. Funk meets soul and jazz, reggae meets rock. Popa Chubby is supported by keyboardist Dave Keyes (Bo Diddley, Ronnie Spector), drummer Dave Moore (Bernie Worrell) and his own daughter Tipitina Horowitz on trumpet. In addition to many highlights, such as the rocking title track "The Catfish", a very special piece awaits on the album with "Blues For Charlie". With this Chubby commemorates the victims of the attacks in Paris, the second home of the musician. Turning the Everly Brothers' hit track ''Bye Bye Love'' into an instrumental in reggae rhythm - you have to come up with something like that first. But otherwise Ted Horowitz aka Popa Chubby remains largely true to blues rock on this album, which he knows how to shape much more creatively here than some other representatives of this subgenre...
