In May 2006, the heaviest electro-blues guitarist with his wife, a sultry woman (the poet's dream), in Memphis took the same place in the Sun studio, from which young Elvis sang into the microphone. Presley is known as a country and blues mixer and Pop Chubby turned his attention to country music. He called the album VICIOUS COUNTRY: the connoisseurs of the traditions of country music got hit, the blues lovers are a little perplexed. And Popa, without complexes with his wife Galya, a bass-guitarist, play and sing to themselves for pleasure - fun and perky - rockabilly, hillbilly and blue-grass - as they understand them. There is a slide on the steel-guitar, as well as a violin, two home videos are attached, smiling skulls and crossed revolvers on the cover - all the cases! Half of the songs are self-composed, the other half: Earl Green, Gene Vincent, etc., there is even ''Act Naturally'', written by Van Morrison and made famous by the Beatles. Key tracks: ''Race With The Devil'' and ''Sam Lay's Pistol'' (a nod to the punching power of Sam Lay, drummer Howlin 'Wolf). It was released in November 20, 2008.

Impressed with Popa Chubby’s amazing ability to find different reasons to record more and more albums and increase his huge discography The idea for this new work came to him last year, after a show he played in Memphis. He visited Sun Records studios and there he thought it would be a good idea to pay homage to fifties and sixties pioneers like Gene Vincent, Merle Haggard or Hank Williams. Popa gives free rein to his past phantoms in VICIOUS COUNTRY CD including thirteen tracks, half of them covers and the rest own songs, all them with that special old times flavour. Besides the shinning sound of his guitar, he has also added some other soloist instruments, such as pedal steeel guitar and violin that give a higher interest to Popa’s new piece of work.
