Awesome live document of the UK hard rock outfit's triumphant 2017 tour. Full show on 2CDs & Blu-Ray + bonus band interviews. The THUNDER concert starts with a bang and ends with a bang – as is to be expected with the band's name. But in between, 95 impressive live hard rock minutes thunder towards us on "STAGE", which was recorded on March 24, 2017 in the packed Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff. There was a good reason why Cardiff, the capital of Wales, was deliberately chosen for this concert recording by THUNDER, the hard rock band formed in London in 1989 with a keen sense of melodic elements. Because back in 2013, the audience there was so loud and enthusiastic at a joint concert by THUNDER with WHITESNAKE and JOURNEY that they wanted to evoke exactly the same reactions four years later for this BluRay recording. The plan, hatched with lightning and thunder, worked out perfectly, as you can hear and see on "STAGE", which is now appearing as a live document, after their eleventh studio album "Rip It Up" had been very successfully recorded in England shortly before the top 3 slipped and in Germany, at 24th place, occupied a place that had never been so high. In general, it is immediately noticeable how close WHITESNAKE and THUNDER are stylistically and also singer Daniel Bowes is quite equal to David Coverdale. So it's no wonder that Bowes states on the last page of the appealing, eight-page digipak, which contains a 12-page photo booklet in addition to the two CDs and the BluRay: "When the reactions to 'Rip It Up' were so positive , the associated tour could only be brilliant. We decided to record the show in Cardiff because our joint concert in 2013 with Journey and Whitesnake went so well. Filming the whole thing as well was one of our best ideas: the resulting film and album are prime examples of how a band and its fans come together naturally. We've released a few live albums in the past, but this is definitely one of the best. We are extremely happy with it.” How quickly the band's energy is transferred to the audience can be felt after the first song "No One Gets Out Alive" and increases immeasurably at the latest when THUNDER start their hard rock success anthem "Backstreet Symphony" and shortly afterwards take it one step further with “The Thing I Want”. Even if the hard rock gentlemen of THUNDER are a little gray and getting on in years, their music is still as powerful live as it has been since their founding in 1989, of which the audio-visual concert recording on "STAGE" from March 24th, 2017 delivers an energetic power rock testimony in Cardiff. The audio-visual formats include a wide range of bonus and interview material, while the limited Super Video Box Set also includes the complete 'Live At The 100 Club' set, the acoustic '29 Minutes Later' [previously only available as a Record Store Day release] and includes the documentary 'A Difficult Day In January: THUNDER In London'.
