BOB DYLAN'S GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK: THE TRIPLICATE ORIGINALS is a 2CD compilation of original songs that was Bob Dylan performes on his album Triplicate. It was released on 5th May 2017. In three thematically arranged ten-song sequences, all individually titled and presented by different artists: 'Til the Sun Goes Down, Devil Dolls and Comin' Home Late and also ten bonus tracks. The Great American Songbook is the loosely defined canon of significant 20th Century American jazz standards, popular songs, and show tunes. Cut Triplicate into its equal sections and what you have are three differing interpretations of the Great American Songbook from the great American Artist. One listen is enough to see the relief and reflection of those days in good company, drinking away the light and listening, attentively, to the stories of old. Let it go to your head. It is more an exercise in learning studio stylings and getting a firmer grip for original material to sound in the future more than anything. Bob Dylan's acknowledgement of the Great American Songbook began in 2015 with the release of Shadows In The Night, a collection of ten traditional pop standards made famous by Frank Sinatra. The album debuted at Number One on the UK Albums Chart. Dylan said that it's not as covering these songs in any way. They've been covered enough, but buried, as a matter a fact. What he and his band are basically doing is uncovering them. Lifting them out of the grave and bringing them into the light of day. To the surprise of many of his fans, Dylan followed Shadows In The Night with a second collection of standards. 2016' Fallen Angels fared slightly less well, only reaching Number Five on the UK Chart. The album nonetheless received a nomination for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. The inspiration Dylan found in this material motivated him to not only record a third collection of classic American songs but to make this one a thirty-song triple album. These great songs to be a tremendous source of inspiration that has led Dylan to one of his most satisfying periods in the studio. He has hit upon new ways to uncover and interpret these songs that are right in line with the best recordings of his own songs, and band and Dylan really seemed to hit our stride on every level with Triplicate. Bob Dylan's Triplicate is presented in three thematically-arranged, ten-song sequences, each individually titled.
