"We've waited 25 years to hear this. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Bob Dylan!" So began Dylan's performance at the 1994 Woodstock Festival, held on Winston Farm, Saugerties, New York, which took place a quarter century to the day after the original event. Bob Dylan snubbed the original Woodstock festival in 1969, so it was more than a little surprising when he signed on for its disastrous 1994 sequel. The festival itself had been an attempt to recapture the magic of the original '69 event, with Santana, The Band, Joe Cocker and Crosby, Stills & Nash being among many returning performers. Rising stars also made appearances that weekend, including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails and Green Day. Most shocking of all was the intensity and conviction of Bob Dylan performance, which overcame some early hiccups to rank among the otherwise dismal event's few memorable moments. Given the number of frat-boy meatheads and date-rapists in the Woodstock audience, Dylan receives a surprisingly rapt and reverent welcome, and he responds with a thoughtful, well-considered performance that avoids populist cheerleading, eschewing "Blowin' In The Wind" and other generational anthems in favor of a lacerating rock and roll show. Perhaps it's nerves, but Dylan rushes through the first three tracks as if he's hyping himself up to dive into the mosh pit. When he sees that the young crowed is becoming relaxed, and respectful of him, he settles into a normal rhythm. The songs are performed with power, and this soundboard recording captures them in all their perfection.

WOODSTOCK 1994 was a music festival organized in 1994 to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the original Woodstock Festival of 1969. It was promoted as "Two More Days Of Peace And Music". WOODSTOCK 1994 also known as Woodstock II, has been called the ''middle child'' between the peaceful original 1969 concert and 1999’s disaster – the latter of which was halted after incidents of arson, looting and rape. It actually had more in common with its predecessor, at least in terms of the weather. Kicking off on Friday, 12th August 1994, and staged on Winston Farm in Saugerties, N.Y., this 25th Anniversary event was also plagued by incessant rain. Only, it got much, much worse. In fact, the sloppy conditions eventually earned this subsequent concert a new name: MUDSTOCK. This recording, broadcast live in superb quality over FM radio and on television to those unable to attend the event, features Bob Dylan's entire performance. Curiously but in typical Dylan-esque fashion, only one number from Under The Red Sky albim's ''God Knows'' is included from his recent crop of releases, with the majority of his material coming from his classic 1960s period. Including such cuts as ''Just Like A Woman'', ''Don't Think Twice, It's Alright'', ''Masters Of War'', ''Highway 61 Revisited'' and ''All Along The Watchtower'', this set will prove a must have release for any Dylan fan, and serves as a valuable memento of this historic event. Well done CD of a radio broadcast from the 25th Anniversary of Woodstock. It was released on 1st July 2016. Bob is in good form and the band sounds great. A must have for Dylan fans.
