Guns N’ Roses- WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE- 4CD Set- 2016- On Stage Entertainment- 5637500609997- 700 grn
Rare FM Broadcasts / 1989-1992.
First off, the sound quality is excellent so far (listened for the first three discs). With over 200 minutes of live classic GN'R, it is worth every penny just for the quantity and recording quality. Since the description of the product doesn't tell you much, and the liner notes don't tell you much either, give you an idea of what you are really getting here.
Disc 1: The first 6 songs are acoustic, from a live radio spot, and were recorded before GN'R Lies was released. It's the first time people ever heard the Lies songs. They are raw, the band is sloppy (yet great), and this first time through is worth the price in itself. Steven Adler is on tambourine. What disappoints, is there is no liner note reference of exactly when or where this performance took place. The last couple tracks on disc one are from a radio presentation from the Live At the Ritz show. Also a disappointment, is what you will see on disc 2.
Disc 2: The entire Live At the Ritz show (including a replay of the last few tracks from disc one, just from a different radio broadcast). This show is the best that early GN'R was, and a pinnacle moment for both the band and MTV. If you don't have a copy of the Ritz show already, you will not be disappointed.
Disc 3: A full shows from Indiana in 1991 (again no liner notes). It's is the bands initial Use Your Illusion Tour, but this show if before the Illusion albums were released. So the crowd has never heard many of the songs. Some cool things in this show. Izzy is there. Matt Sorum is introduced for the first time. Dizzy Reed is introduced for the first time. Axl is very gritty and really showing off his bad attitude (at its best). A quality recording, and not one had ever heard before. This disc itself is worth the price of the disc.
Disc 4: This is a continuation of the concert on disc three. The first track (and part of track 2) is possibly the bands first time playing November Rain live. Very sloppy, with a couple miscues (for example Matt Sorum plays the wrong fill once or twice, and his recovery is noticeable). Hearing an early run through, and not yet perfected, of what would become one of GN'R's most iconic songs, is very cool.
Even though the negatives of a few repeated tracks, and no liner notes describing what/where/when we are listening to, the quality is near excellent throughout, and well worth the price.
Recommend this to any GN'R fan.
