1988 Live radio broadcast from re-united band with Steve Van Zandt and surviving original members. Well they just keep coming, semi legit radio broadcast releases which, as a die hard, you just have to have...sometimes baulking at the quality after purchase. This disc, no worries required, for a recording nearly three decades old, its excellent, recorded on the Tribute Tour 1987/88. Unlike the official disc 'Southern By The Grace Of God' this is a double disc, so includes 16 tracks as opposed to 11, it has 7 tracks which were not featured on the original namely #I aint the One', 'Saturday Night Special', 'Needle and spoon', 'The Ballad Of Curtis Loew', 'Things Goin On', 'Gimme 3 Steps' & 'Simple Man'. (You Got That Right & Gimme Back My Bullets are exclusive to the Southern By The Grace... release). Sound quality is pretty good for something this old, you may have to turn up the volume and occasionally the guitars are a bit low in the mix but this is more than made up for by the performance and atmosphere captured on the recording. Running time 106 minutes and the only real gripe is disc 1 fizzles out with Johhnny Van Zant asking the crowd to behave, packaging is good, decent booklet with notes and interview snippets with Billy Powell, although as is always the case with these releases there is the usual faux pas,in this case stating Ronnie Van Zant was replaced by his brother 'Stevie'!!!!! In summary this is an excellent performance and worth every penny.
