OFFICIAL BOOTLEG VOLUME FOUR: LIVE IN BRISBANE AUSTRALIA 2011 was recorded in Brisbane, Australia in March 2011 by British rock band Uriah Heep and released on 5th September 2011 by Edel Germany GmbH. Show took place on 31st March 2011 at the Tivoli in Brisbane, Australia. Released as part of the Official Bootleg Series, this is one of the better edition, sound quality excellent and a raft of classics and newer tracks spread over two discs. The band are on form and Shaw's vocals which can be hit or miss on the bands ''live'' albums are pretty decent. A cracking 2CD live album from the UK rock legends recorded during their whistle stop trip to Oz. In general, you can tell that the band doesn't see this gig as a mere downplaying of their old street sweepers. The attentive listener will hear slightly different parts again and again. There is room for short new interludes from the four instrumentalists. God knows, there will never be a dull moment. If you base this recording on the other two (only two) concerts in Australia and assume that the performance and sound were similar, the band let their joy of playing fully and noticeably shine through. For the fan, for the Australian fan anyway, but also for people who enjoy a good live album, unreserved recommendation.
PERSONNEL: Mick Box - guitars, vocals; Trevor Bolder - bass, vocals; Phil Lanzon - keyboards, vocals; Bernie Shaw - lead vocals; Russell Gilbrook - drums, vocals.
The trip goes on… OFFICIAL BOOTLEG VOLUME FOUR: LIVE IN BRISBANE AUSTRALIA 2011is a great live album, well mixed, clear sound. This album begins with a beautiful classic intro, which skillfully transitions into the choral singing of "Wake The Sleeper" and immediately picks up speed. Interrupted by the usual pleasant announcements, which were not edited out here, it goes straight back to the beginning, "Return To Fantasy" is on the playlist and is enthusiastically received by the audience. With the following "Only Human" and "Book Of Lies" with strong, beautiful bass inserts and subtle Hammond, the journey into the band's most recent release history comes to an end. From now on only the oldies market will be served. Everything that the Fifth Continent has not been able to hear or see live for twenty five years is on offer. On the second disc, the five guys leave nothing, absolutely nothing, to chance. No experiments with newer material, no matter how good the compositions may be - and there are some really great songs among them. Mick Box is allowed to work on his six-string in his typical way and the others also step on the gas. Guitar and Hammond are clearly used, supported by Trevor Bolder on bass and a tirelessly working Russell Gilbrook on skins. Here you can get an idea of how much sweat it must have cost Gillbrook to drum his way into Heep. With this record, in addition to the die-hard fans who are known to buy everything, Heep are certainly also clearly serving the Australian market, which they have stayed away from, at least ''live'', for a good twenty five years. Well, on 31st March 2011 at the Tivoli in Brisbane the time had come and for the Australians the wait was obviously worth it.
