OFFICIAL BOOTLEG VOLUME II: LIVE IN BUDAPEST HUNGARY 2010 was recorded in Budapest in 2010 by British rock band Uriah Heep and released on 24th October 2010 by Edel Germany GmbH. LIVE IN BUDAPEST HUNGARY 2010 is the second official bootleg of a series of live albums from the band. Uriah Heep haven't forgotten how to rock, that's for sure. Mick Box and his Heep's take you on a ride through their greatest hits as well as two new songs. Show recoded live on 4th May 2010 at Petofi Hall in Budapest, Hungary to commemorate the band's The Celebration - 40th Anniversary Tour. Although Uriah Heep experienced its commercial and creative peak in the 1970s, this live album shows that the band was still in top form at the beginning of the last decade. Uriah Heep's captivating and energetic performance in Budapest is a testament to the band's ability to entertain and move audiences through a repertoire made up of classics, as well as excellent new songs at the time. It could be a good album because it contains the entire concert, set list and performance are good, there are Uriah Heep classics, tracks from Lawton era, songs from the then newest album Wake The Sleeper and a new song ''Corridors Of Madness'', previously released only on Celebration: Forty Years of Rock CD. This one is for die-hard fans only. No complaint there, as they obviously have so many great songs that pan out-great-being played live.
PERSONNEL: Mick Box - guitars, vocals; Trevor Bolder - bass, vocals; Phil Lanzon - keyboards, vocals; Bernie Shaw - lead vocals; Russell Gilbrook - drums, vocals.
It is safe to say there is something for everyone, since the band covers material from as far back as 1970 to their latest stuff that came out in 2009. Disc One has ten tracks (50:24) while Disc Two has another seven (45:18). That’s a pretty decent selection and is widespread enough to satisfy every age group. The main positive point of this release is that there is a very good selection of songs from the band from start to finish. The negative is that the sound of this album is muddled and bassy — too deep at times, and just plain bad. You inevitably have to cut back on the sound, as nothing has been subsequently improved or remixed, but you get the impression of really being there live. Perhaps there is a reason for this that can be explained, but for now just know that you’ve been warned. Overall, though, the band sounds tight. It is also obvious that the fans still love them. As long as that keeps happening, they’ll most likely still be around for a while. The fact that the group still has a knack for playing live is not surprising and widely known given their incessant touring. Even marginally interested music listeners who regularly go to the halls have seen the guys rocking out on some generator over the last few years. So in the case of this "bootleg" double-decker it is mostly the normal suspects, including the ''Lady In Black'', who are supposed to encourage people to buy it. Uriah Heep live: once more good, always good - but only if you don't have it in another form yet. OFFICIAL BOOTLEG VOLUME II: LIVE IN BUDAPEST HUNGARY 2010 is an essential album for Uriah Heep fans, as well as for lovers of good old 70's hard rock. After all, it is always good and inspiring to watch the performances of veteran musicians playing with passion and at a very high level.
