WHERE BLUES MEETS ROCK Series.
Blues-Rock is a genre filled with exceptionally talented artists. Artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, and Buddy Guy have paved the way in the genre. Today, there’s a multitude of artists that continue to carry the torch for the genre and bring the music forward. This CD series is one of the few Blues-Rock sampler series that can really be recommended. All songs are catchy. You can hear right away that only thoroughbred musicians are at work here, it would certainly be unfair to single out one or two interpreters, because they really all spread a super good mood. Blues-Rock is one of those musical styles that will never be completely lost in the trials and tribulations of the music world. On the contrary, because while The Rolling Stones lose more and more credibility with every further world tour, some musicians only blossom at that age. In addition to B.B. King, there is the late John Lee Hooker, who recorded albums regularly at the age of eighty and also promoted them live. Eventually everyone finds their way to the blues! The most popular example is Gary Moore, who made rock and metal history with Thin Lizzy and under his own name. 1992 at the latest was the end of ''Out In The Fields'' and ''Friday On My Mind'', because that's when dear Gary discovered the bluesy side of himself. As a result, he dubbed his first outing Still Got The Blues. He hasn't been able to let go of that to this day, despite or perhaps because of all the prophecies of doom. Exactly this thread is spun on WHERE BLUES MEETS ROCK VII. And that's already in the seventh edition! Of course there are typical blues pieces on the sampler. True to the motto: "Oh shock, oh shock, my baby is gone! Left me, what should I do now?!" But fortunately they are the exception rather than the rule. Leslie West's opener ''Blues Before Sunrise'' could easily be on ol' Gary's Still Got The Blues album. ''So Many Roads'' by Joe Bonamassa can safely be placed in the aforementioned category. But dear Joe knows how to please with exquisite guitar playing. However, it's "just" Eric Gales, who grooves on ''Retribution'' like the Texans do on their '94 classic "Dogman". The Stoney Curtis Band, on the other hand, makes you think they re-recorded Led Zep's classic ''Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You''. All that was missing was Robert Plant's ingenious organ and the number would be complete! Michael Katon, on the other hand, comes across as a dirty rock version of ZZ Top ''Back To Your Cages'' convinces with an inimitable snotiness. Very well done, this jubilant compilation is accompanied by a small booklet telling us which albums the titles are taken from, which is a good indication to know the discography of the artists presented here. It's really fun to play one disc after the other. There is only one recommendation: BUY!!
