On his first new album in four years and first new release in seven years, John Mayall reclaims the Bluesbreakers name for the first time in 18 years to highlight a quintet featuring two lead guitarists, Coco Montoya and Walter Trout, along with a rhythm section of Bobby Haynes bass, and Joe Yuele drums. The album was recorded in concert in Hungary in June 1985, and takes a fairly bluesy approach, with lots of space for the guitarists to shine, a format similar to that of The Bluesbreakers lineups of 1965-1968. Sound quality is only fair, and this is not an inspired performance, but Mayall has latched onto a cohesive unit here, and the results are encouraging for the future.

The Bluesbreakers' line-ups, along with the interpolating members of Blues Incorporated, had a profound influence on the early British 'Electric Blues' scene, eventually spilling into the mainstream of progressive fusions and popular 'Rock'. John Mayall's John Mayall is a British blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist born on 29 November 1933, in Manchester, England. He is considered to be the "Godfather Of British Blues" and has played a significant role in the development of blues music in Britain. Mayall formed the blues rock band John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers in the 1960s and has collaborated with many famous musicians including Eric Clapton, Peter Green, and Mick Taylor. He has released over 30 studio albums and continues to tour and perform. Mayall has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to blues music and is recognized as one of the most influential musicians of the genre. John Mayall began his music career in the late 1950s as a solo blues artist, but it wasn't until the 1960s that he formed the John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers band.
