Aerosmith- LIVE IN JAPAN 2004- CD- 2013- Immortal/IMC Music Ltd.- 8712177062805- 400 grn
In March of 2004 Aerosmith released their fourteenth studio album called Honkin On Bobo. The album was mostly a cover album with eleven covers and one original track titled ''The Grind''. The sound reflects Aerosmith's blues-based influences and showcases a rawer sound (reminiscent of their 1970s heyday) compared to their recent commercial efforts and was also produced by Jack Douglas, who was Aerosmith's producer on a vast majority of their 1970s' output. The supporting tour that followed was a unique event as it sent the band, with Cheap Trick as support, to small venues throughout America as well as Japan. Additionally, the tour was almost exclusively arenas, a change in pace from the predominantly amphitheatre tours the band embarked on in the past. The setlist varied widely from show to show, but was generally no longer than 20 songs, and featured several of their classics, as well as new bluesy tunes from Honkin' On Bobo including ''Baby, Please Don't Go'', ''Road Runner'', ''Stop Messin Around'' and ''Never Loved A Girl''. The tour started on the 11th of March in Texas and it ended with six dates in Japan in July. On the 24th of July the band headlined The Rock Odyssey Festival at Yokohama International Stadium, Yokohama Japan above performers like The Who, Paul Weller, Michelle Branch and others.

For over 35 years, Aerosmith have been considered one of the greatest rock bands the world has ever seen. Their unique ballads, robust rock songs and divine riffs still make the earth shake today. The unmistakable style and their precise sound make Aerosmith the absolute Rock 'N' Roll flagship. Worldwide sales of millions, prize awards, trophies, honors and all Hall Of Fame conquests speak for themselves. In 2004 they went on another big tour of Japan and thrilled their fans again. In this Aerosmith concert, given at Yokogama, the band mixes its concert staples and big hits with some of the rocking blues standards thay were among its earliest influences. Many of the songs heard here, drawn from a variety of albums, are Aerosmith concert staples and longstanding hits. The band delves briefly into the James Brown catalogue, for a convincing cover of “Mother Popcorn”. But others are blues standards, drawn from the 2004 album Honkin’ On Bobo, which returned the band to its earliest musical roots.
