The Black Crowes entered the Trump Plaza Hotel in Atlantic City to be greeted by a crowd of hugely enthusiastic and inspired onlookers who wanted a taste of qualified southern, R&B, boogie rock and that is indeed what they got. Riding high on their acclaimed debut album Shake Your Money Maker, the spirited Georgia rockers paid homage to rock 'n' roll history with an explosive set that crowned them kings of southern rock. Aside from a blistering onslaught of authentic pomp that takes us through their debut album, The Crowes light up the stage omitting the hit single ''She Talks To Angels'' from the set list, a confident move that confirms the band's belief and authority. Klondike label proudly presents the entire 24th August 1990 performance by the Black Crowes from the Trump Plaza Hotel in Atlantic City. This hot live set from The Black Crowes was recorded on 24th August 1990 when they were touring for their first album. It includes numerous songs from that record including radio faves and even a cover of The Rolling Stones "Honky Tonk Woman". In 1990, when journalists were lamenting the death of rock, as cheesy pop and hair metal dominated the charts, Atlanta’s Black Crowes gave the genre a swift and much needed kick in the ass with Shake Your Money Maker album. Fueled by singles “Jealous Again”, “Twice As Hard”, “She Talks To Angels'' and the break-through cover of Otis Redding’s “Hard To Handle”, the band immediately took the rock world by storm, topping Rolling Stone’s “Best New America Band Readers Poll” in late 1990. In other words, they’ve done everything a legendary rock group should do. This was recorded at the beginning of The Black Crowes career. The sound quality is average at best but it does contain a few tracks that didn't quite make the first album. A good quality recording of a top band approaching the peak of its powers... and all for the price of a pint. Great stuff. So if you're a hardcore Crowes fan who wants every bootleg performance of their classic lineup out there , you will probably like this.
