STILL CLIMBING, also known as STILL CLIMBING!, is the twelfth studio album by American hard rock artist, Leslie West, released on 29th October 2013. Leslie West is a founding member of the band Mountain. The album featured performances by Johnny Lang, Dylan Rose, Dee Snider, Mark Tremonti, and Johnny Winter. The title of the album is in reference to Mountain's first album, CLIMBING! The track "Long Red" was first featured on West's debut solo album, Mountain, released in 1969. The rerecorded version on Still Climbing features his brother Larry West on bass. The brothers first recorded together as members of The Vagrants in the 1960s. STILL CLIMBING, co-produced by West and Mike 'Metal' Goldberg, who engineered all of the sessions. The album, excluding the tracks "Tales of Woe" and his bassist's "Rev Jones Time (Over The Rainbow)" was mixed by Mike Fraser. The latter features Leslie West and Johnny Winter on dueling slide guitars. Both men have been friends since the Woodstock era, and in recent years they've toured together and individually kicked methadone addiction. But it's the blazing collaborations (like the one with Johnny Winter on ''Busted, Disgusted or Dead'') that drive the record.

He had to cope with a variety of health problems over the years. In the mid-80s he was diagnosed with diabetes, and in 2011 diabetic complications forced him to have his right lower leg amputated. In the early 2000s he survived bladder cancer. Leslie West, who has died aged 75 following a cardiac arrest, could claim to be one of the creators of heavy metal. His band Mountain made a spectacular impact when they played their fourth gig at the original Woodstock festival in August 1969.
