It was cheap, the cover didn't look upto much but bought it anyway, more from a comletist's point of view than a music lovers. Put it in the CD player, pressed play and got ready to hit the fast forward button. The only button pressed was the repeat play button. It's a great collection of tracks and considering their history, good sound quality.

Heard a couple of tracks by The Moving Sidewalks on the ZZ Top box set so knew roughly what to expect. The difference is that in the company of other tracks of a similar vintage they sound far more at home. Apart from The Warlocks lone track and a couple by American Blues, which have a British Invasion / psychedelic influence, the rest are more Blues, Hendrix, Pebbles and Nuggets sounding. OK, with the exception a couple of songs, would have struggled to recognise the ZZ Top connection, but it comes as no surprise, listening to the album, that they went onto bigger and better things. The talent, both in song writing and performance, is already there. Can now understand why Hendrix rated Billy Gibbons guitar playing so highly, even this early in his career. The style is heavily influenced by Hendrix himself. The sleeve notes mention that Hendrix notably recorded with Gibbons on 2 tracks represented on this album; Mercury Blues & Melted Like Snow. Not certain if the versions included on the CD are the takes that Hendrix played on as would have expected Hendrix' name to be plastered across the front sleeve if, indeed, they were. If you like ZZ Top, Hendrix out-takes and American Garage Bands you should like this album.
Each CD Comes In A Individual Jewel Case With Clear Tray Includes Six Page Folded Leaflet And Both Discs Contained In A One-Side-Closed Cardboard Slipcase.
