Back 11-13 years ago, several musicians from bands like Govt Mule, the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Starship, Black Crowes and the Allman Brothers got together and formed Blue Floyd, covering Pink Floyd songs in a southern jam band manner. Beatle Jam is most of that band, this time covering Beatles songs in a southern jam band manner. All of these Beatle Jam releases are live, warts 'n all, the vocals are a little rough. It's the interplay between the musicians and virtuoso soloing that make Jam Bands like this one so interesting, not the vocals. UK pressing of this live album from the jam band supergroup consisting of Matt Abs, Berry Oakley Jr., Vince Welnick, Slick Aguilar and Johnny Neel. Beatle Jam are a sort of spin off from the successful US jam band Blue Floyd only this time its Beatles songs rather than the Pink Floyd, given the unique jam spin. This CD set is the one of three releases and will be a must have for all those into Gov't Mule and the whole jam band scene. This is a soundboard recording, warts and all, reflecting the band on the night. In fact, they main occupation aside from they original groups is the Blue Floyd group, which is dedicated to making very high quality versions of Pink Floyd. Sporadically, they also cover the Beatles and, so far, they have released 2 CDs that include live recordings of their concerts: Live At The Webster Theater, a double CD that includes a performance from 2002 and Live At B.B. King's Blues Club, also a 2002 concert in New York. His latest work is LIVE AT THE KESWICK THEATRE, with 10 tracks recorded live.
