The tracks on this double CD represent the surviving outtakes and alternate mixes from the recordings, which form the second Jimi Hendrix Experience album, Axis: Bold As Love. Features twenty one tracks including five tracks that were ultimately not used - four of which have not been released. The track ''Little One'', included here, is alleged in some quarters to feature Brian Jones, possibly, on sitar. A two-CD, approximately ninety-minute set of the legendary recently discovered outtakes and alternate mixes from the 1967 second Jimi Hendrix Experience album Axis: Bold As Love. After the explosive debut, Are You Experienced, Axis: Bold As Love offered a more melodic, lyrical counterpart and demonstrated quite clearly that Jimi Hendrix was more musican than wild man. As the title attests, these are AXIS OUTTAKES so don't expect highly finished productions here. This is audio archeology for the hardened fan as you get the chance to hear work-in-progress, around the time Axis: Bold As Love was being put together. Sound quality is mostly poor and there are only really one or two interesting moments in there. Tapes had been found at Olympic Studios so Chas called in The Experience rhythm section to complete or enhance the recordings. These and further recordings circulated as the bootleg Studio Haze and some tracks turned up in 2010 on the official Valleys Of Neptune album. A good illustration which echoes the Axis: Bold As Love cover, with Cherokee Jim resplendant in Indian head-dress.
