TEASER is the 1975 debut solo album from American guitarist Tommy Bolin. TEASER was released in conjunction with the album Come Taste The Band by Deep Purple, on which Bolin also played guitar. This album is cherished by fans for the broad range of styles in Bolin's playing. The material spans hard rock, blues rock, jazz, reggae and Latin music, often blending these styles together within a single song. It is also considered by many to be some of Bolin's greatest recordings in his short career.

Tommy Bolin – The Definitive TEASER biography: HE WAS a shooting star, a fiercely bright, ferociously driven and a guitarist whose soul spoke through his fingers and fretboard. An American axeman of the caliber rarely seen or heard before (or since) his untimely death at the age of 25 on December 4th 1976. A man who allowed the power of funk and the fury of rock to find such finite expression through his inspiration. A man who allowed his emotions to play out through his Fender Strat and Gibson Les Paul. A man who saw Elvis when he was a boy and knew that aura, that energy and that desire to express himself in the solitude of the spotlight was also in him. He quickly learned to play Presley songs on guitar and won local amateur contests. His first groups, Denny and the Triumphs and American Standard, found little or no success, and Bolin took work backing blues guitarist Lonnie Mack. In 1968 he formed Ethereal Zephyr, later shortened to Zephyr. Bolin formed the jazz/fusion group Energy with flautist Jeremy Steig, based in Colorado. Bolin also worked on an unreleased Steig album that also featured Jan Hammer and Billy Cobham. The latter then asked Bolin to play guitar on his Spectrum album in 1973 (which reputedly inspired Jeff Beck to try his hand at fusion). Having become a ‘name’ guitarist he was asked to replace Domenic Troiano (who himself had replaced Joe Walsh) in the James Gang. Bolin performed on their 1973 Bang album and the following year’s Miami. After contributing to sessions for jazz drummer Alphonse Mouzon’s Mind Transplant album, he was hired in 1975 by Deep Purple to replace the departed Ritchie Blackmore. He subsequently wrote and co-wrote many songs for the English hard rock group’s Come Taste The Band. During the early stages of that band’s dissolution in late 1975 Bolin went solo, recording the critically acclaimed TEASER for Nemporer Records and, the following year, Private Eyes for Columbia Records. In each case he toured with the Tommy Bolin Band to promote the albums. In December 1976, Bolin was found dead in a Miami hotel room, the victim of a drugs overdose. His expression never sounded more fluent than on his 1975 solo album debut TEASER, and UDR Records is proud to present the first true overview of this project and era with the triple vinyl release of TEASER which includes two bonus live CDs. Bolin's legacy is superbly reflected in The Definitive TEASER, a lovingly crafted-and-mined deluxe vinyl box-set featuring outtakes and alternative mixes from the Teaser studio sessions, plus two live CDs comprising performances from Ebbets Field and The Northern Lights among others.
