Glenn Hughes is a bit of a living legend. He’s been hailed “The Voice Of Rock”, and for good reason, as this 7 CD live box set ably testifies. With vocals soaked in blues and soul, Glenn Hughes has played with many legends of rock. Despite his huge talents as a musician and as a songwriter, the 80s were relatively quiet period for Glenn fans, something that was more than made up for in the much more prolific 90s and noughties. This box set is massive and covers live material from 1994 right through to 2010. You’re probably wondering do we really need a seven disc box set of live material from Glenn. That’s actually a really good question, and the answer is quite simply ''yes''. Admittedly this is not a set you can sit and listen to in one hit. The tracks are classics in their own right but they are repeated throughout the 7 discs hence why it’s not a box to listen to in one sitting. Although these recordings are considered to be bootlegs, they sound anything but. A real treat. Release date 29th June 2018.

When Glenn’s 1994 tour hit Japan, he was promoting the From Now On… album. Originally released as Burning Japan Live, the show features some of the cream of Glenn’s back catalogue, including the Hughes-Thrall classics, Trapeze, plus a host of Purple's classics. The same tour took Glenn to the Alexandra Rock Teater venue in Copenhagen, Denmark on October 25, 1994. Four lively Deep Purple classics captured at the Gran Rex Theatre in Buenos Aires, Argentina in December 2003. The acoustic set from Sydney, Australia in June 2006 sees Glenn delve back to his debut solo platter, Play Me Out, followed by a unique cover of ‘'Nights In White Satin'', plus a take of Procol Harum’s ‘'A Whiter Shade Of Pale’', and the title track to the album he was then promoting, Soul Mover. Kick off with ‘'Stormbringer'’ from a show at Circo Voador, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil on October 28, 2007. First Underground Nuclear Kitchen is one of the best release, and an album he was promoting when his 2010 solo tour hit Belgian venue Spirit Of 66 in Verviers on October 16, 2010. By this time Glenn had built up a very solid and impressive back catalogue of solo releases. Hughes voice is immense throughout and you can really tell how his vocal performance and phrasing has changed over the 16 year period this set covers. The musicianship on every recording is tremendous especially with some of the older Trapeze material as well as the covers of ''Whiter Shade Of Pale'' and ''Nights In White Satin''. There’s a lot of music and a lot of songs that you’ll recognise that you may not necessarily know it was Glenn Hughes who had recorded or wrote. Overall this box set is well worth a purchase.
