Proven by years of touring and concerts, Jeff Healey released his debut album ''See The Light'' in September 1988 to great acclaim in his native Canada as well as in the United States and Europe and overall selling over two million copies. Recorded and broadcast by radio station WKLS 96.1FM , this concert at the Cotton Club in Atlanta took place at the end of the album's promotional tour featuring titles from that album such as ''My Little Girl'', ''Blue Jean Blues'', ''Confidence Man'', ''I Need To Be Loved'', ''Hideaway'' and the title track, alongside covers of the blues standard ''Further On Up The Road'', Cream's ''White Room'' and Dylan's ''All Along The Watchtower'' version Hendrix. The enthralling and impetuous guitar style of the Canadian, between rock blues and jazz, is already spectacular and fully formed in this performance that deserves to be listened to on repeat.

This is the best live recording of Jeff Healy Band from his tour in 1988. The crowd is engaged and the band extends some songs by a minute or two and interpret that to mean they are having a good time. This is a radio broadcast from a fund-raiser that features several artists, with The Jeff Healy Band seemingly the headline act. Compare this to the Live From NYC 1988 show that was recently released: Still a great show, but the crowd in NYC was subdued and the band does not play an extended encore like they do here. Bruce Cockburn (fellow Canuck) is brought out for a rousing ''All Along The Watchtower'', with Bruce and Jeff trading off vocals and guitar runs. His take on ''White Room'' is more groovy and fluid than other times on this tour. The noodling (a good thing) is great on ''Blue Jean Blues'' and the blues to giant rock chords in the opening instrumental are stark and jarring. This is just the perfect mix of all that Jeff Healy does well - and the laid-back atmosphere of this particular show is super cool. This is the live show to get from The Jeff Healy Band's first tour for his debut album, See The Light.
