Ruf Records is proud to present RUF RECORDS ANTHOLOGY: 12 Years Of “ Where Blues Crosses Over”. Born on a late night in a small village bar in the Black Forest of Germany, Ruf records has release 100 albums in 12 years and has become one for the premier blues labels around today. With an impressive artists roster including Bernard Allison, Canned Heat, Sue Foley, Omar & The Howlers, the Night Hawks and Walter trout, Ruf has raised the bar constantly in the world of blues. This CD and DVD combo set features 13 songs on CD and 13 videos on DVD. Ruf Records is a cool Blues label based in Germany. They released this great compilation that comes with a DVD to celebrate 12 years of releases. They have tried to include something from every year but they miss a couple, which is explained nicely in the booklet. The CD features some famous people and some less famous people. The highlights were hearing these kick ass female guitar players - Sue Foley and Ana Popovic - who rip it up on the CD and the DVD! The unreleased video of Luther Allison is quite cool. You get Robin Trower, Jeff Healey, Walter Trout, Canned Heat, Omar And The Howlers, and many others. You will enjoy it quite a lot! This is a fine, really fat blues album - black to the bone, even where white musicians - and that's the majority here - make this elementary music that gets under your skin. Ruf Records celebrates the dozen or so of its successful years on the market with a very nicely put together sampler. Walter Trout and Jeff Haley open it with powerful voices and strings with "Workin' Overtime" - and you are happy to put up with such overtime. Of course, the hard-hitting blues ladies Sue Foley (with "New Used Car"), Candye Kane (with the title song of her album "White Trash Girl") and Ana Popovich, who don't have to hide from the gentlemen, are also there. Ian Parker's "It Hurts A Man" alongside Trout/Haley and Bernard Allison's "Live Together" is the most beautiful groove of this well-rounded album. As a bonus, a track from the founding year is added to the dozen or so: Luther Allison with "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is". As an extra, Ruf has included a DVD that also contains thirteen tracks in video clips and live recordings in a slightly different composition and with different titles: BluesCaravan are there, Bob Brozman, Robin Trower, the Imperial Crowns and Walter Trout. Together, both discs give a nice overview of the celebrated twelve years. Congratulations on the "Bluesy Dozen"!
