Back at the end of August 2015 released a Faces box set, 1970-1975: You Can Make Me Dance, Sing Or Anything… If you don't recall that, then it's a good thing you stopped by. If you do recall this release, then you’ll also recall that the price tag is one which is – let’s face it – not insubstantial, which is what one might reasonably expect with something featuring that many CDs and packaging that awesome. Fortunately, we’ve got the perfect alternative STAY WITH ME: FACES ANTHOLOGY, a 36-track compilation available on CD and which gives you a solid look into The Faces catalog at a price that’s rather nice. This 36-song anthology charts the highlights of The Faces after Steve Marriott left that group to form Humble Pie. STAY WITH ME: FACES ANTHOLOGY includes many Faces classics, three previously unreleased live tracks and new liner notes. The five-piece existed at a time when, above all the careers of Rod Stewart and Ron Wood Ron Wood were on the verge of eruption. Exactly this pre-eruptive makes Faces songs modern classics!
PERSONNEL: Kenney Jones - drums, percussion; Ronnie Lane - bass, vocals; Ian McLagan - keyboards; Rod Stewart - vocals; Ronnie Wood - guitar, vocals; Tetsu Yamauchi - bass; Jesse Ed Davis - guitar; Mick Hucknall - lead vocals; Glen Matlock - bass.
Their career was short but fierce, their reputation fluctuating between brilliant and dangerous. The Faces left behind four studio albums in five years when they broke up in 1975. By then The Faces delivered immortal classics like ''Stay With Me'' and ''Ooh La La'' - for which they were inducted into the Rock 'N' Roll Hall Of Fame. The perfect time for a musical retrospective of a band that made history and above all wanted to have one thing: fun. With STAY WITH ME: FACES ANTHOLOGY, which contains a total of 36 hits and classics of The Faces, there are now timeless hits and almost forgotten classics in one package. STAY WITH ME: FACES ANTHOLOGY revisits The Faces' best moments - from gripping rockers like ''Had Me A Real Good Time, Too Bad'' and ''Miss Judy's Farm'' to tender ballads ''Debris, Glad And Sorry'' and ''Love Lies Here''. Highlights of the compilation include Paul McCartney's ''Maybe I'm Amazed'', which was only released as a single at the time, as well as three previously unreleased live songs, namely Robert Johnson's ''Love In Vain'' and The Faces originals ''Too Much Woman'' and ''Gasoline Alley'', whose recordings were taken from the Fillmore East concert in 1970. The Faces were the greatest rock 'n' roll band that ever stumbled and scraped the surface of the earth. They could play anything - Blues, Soul, Funk, Country, Boogie - and they played it like the world was their barstool and like there was never a curfew. With a frontman like Rod Stewart, whose grating voice was schooled on the great British blues movement of the sixties, the band's unpredictability was inevitable. Yet all the band members already had renowned experience behind them. After singer Steve Marriott left The Small Faces in favor of Humble Pie, they hired Rod Stewart, who was just starting a solo career. Although other bands may have been more successful and lasted longer, The Faces are the key band of an entire rock generation, forming the nucleus for the British rock and blues movement of the seventies. Hardly any other band convinced with such a joy of playing and living as The Faces. For a bunch of guys who never took themselves too seriously, they made more soulful and beautiful music than any other band.
