WHITE LIGHTNIN’: THE SOLO BOX contains all four of Bill Wyman studio albums including Monkey Grip and Stone Alone from the mid seventies, his eponymous third album from 1981 (which featured his only UK hit single ''(Si Si) Je Suis Un Rock Star'', and the Japan-only Stuff issued in 1992. The box also boasts 24 bonus tracks (four previously unreleased), and a DVD with promo videos, TV clips from the BBC archives and a brand new interview with Bill Wyman himself. A 40 page book contains credits, lyrics and notes. This is a decent amount of content for Bill Wyman fans. WHITE LIGHTNIN’: THE SOLO BOX was released on 15 June 2015.

This box contains all four solo albums by Bill Wyman, the first Rolling Stone to release a solo record. The first two (Monkey Grip from 1974 and 1976’s Stone Alone, both issued on Rolling Stones Records) were made the help of a galaxy of musical friends like Lowell George, Dr John, Joe Walsh, Van Morrison, the Pointer Sisters, Danny Kortchmar, Dallas Taylor, Leon Russell, Bob Welch and Nicky Hopkins. The eponymous third album was home to Bill’s 1981 big hit single “(Si Si) Je Suis Un Rock Star” as well as follow-up hits “Come Back Suzanne”, “A New Fashion” and “Visions'', while fourth album Stuff appeared in 1992, originally in Japan only. Sanctuary Records subjected Bill Wyman's first four albums to deluxe expansions back in 2008, but in the seven years following, they drifted out of print. In 2015, Edsel rectified the situation by gathering the albums -- 1974's Monkey Grip, 1976's Stone Alone, the eponymous Bill Wyman 1981, and Stuff, which appeared only in Japan in 1992 -- in a mini-clamshell box, adding a bonus DVD containing seven promo videos and three BBC clips, along with an interview, to round out the package. For those fans who invested in the expanded CDs in 2008, this additional DVD is the most appealing element of WHITE LIGHTNIN’: THE SOLO BOX, but for those who missed out on the titles, this is a nice way to get Bill Wyman's best records all at once.
