Tom Waits- EMOTIONAL WEATHER REPORT – 2CD- 2015-
- DFMK Pte Ltd./BRR (Broadcasting Radio Records)- 889397960056- 500 grn
Named after the first song on the Nighthawks At The Diner album, this CD was recorded live and contains the complete program of a radio broadcast beamed from New York's Bottom Line one week before Christmas 1976. Tom Waits was then busy promoting the album Small Change and the seventeen songs in the lineup, interpreted by a musician still far from the noisy and experimental choices of recent years and clinging to his piano, represent an excellent selection from his first four albums: from ''Eggs And Sausage'' at ''Big Joe & Phantom 309'' the set is a masterful manifesto of alcoholic, urban and nocturnal poetry, amplified by the singer-songwriter's extraordinary theatricality and punctuated by masterpieces such as ''The Heart Of Saturday Night'', ''Spare Parts'' and ''Invitation To The Blues''.
