Bernie Marden, well known for his hits with Whitesnake goes right back to the blues with this fantastic session album with many guests including Don Airy and Andy Pyle. Bernard John "Bernie" Marsden was an English rock and blues guitarist. He is primarily known for his work with Whitesnake having written or co-written with David Coverdale many of the group's hit songs, such as "Here I Go Again". Having played with Glenn Cornick's Wild Turkey in 1974, he then played with Babe Ruth, from 1975-76, before becoming an original member of Paice Ashton Lord in 1977 and then joining the hard rock band, Whitesnake, after having the possibility of playing with his boy-time hero Paul McCartney and Wings because while waiting, David Coverdale asked him to form Whitesnake. In more recent years, Marsden has toured with his bands Company Of Snakes, M3, both formed with fellow former Whitesnake members Micky Moody and Neil Murray, and performed with Elkie Brooks. Over the years he has taken part in a number of sessions and has released a handful of solo albums. He has also collaborated with Micky Moody on a number of Marsden-Moody live and studio projects.

BIG BOY BLUE is a mix of self penned work and covers, there is a fine mix of bar room blues bolstered by a boogie rhythm and harmonica. Across the blues genre, Bernie mixes in quite a lot. From a lead slide to playing a rhythm behind the harmonica, his versatility within the remit is as strong as his guitar playing. Talking Elephant has released a remastered version of BIG BOY BLUE, a solo album by Bernie Marsden previously only available via his website store. Originally appeared in 2003 as a 2CD pack, now has been trimmed to a single CD with 13 tracks which works better, rounding up 55 minutes of music. BIG BOY BLUE is a very well performed & recorded album with a true Blues heart. This is a fine remastering where some original tape hiss was properly removed and all instruments sound clear and separated.
