M3 was formed by former Whitesnake guitarists Bernie Marsden, Micky Moody and Neil Murray. After the demise of its predecessor The Snakes the band was completed by drummer John Lingwood and vocalist Robert Hart and later British singer Gary Barden. This was The Company Of Snakes band. After adding keyboardist Don Airey, the band went on tour, playing concerts almost completely consisting of old Whitesnake songs. Singer Barden left the band soon afterwards and was replaced by Swedish vocalist Stefan Berggren. They toured throughout their history and released the live album. They were joined in Germany, during their promotional tour for this album by Jerry Shirley. The band recorded one studio album which was recorded after Don Airey had left the band. Berggren left soon after Airey's departure and the remaining band members morphed into M3. After that, Micky Moody and Neil Murray went on to form Snakecharmer. First time M3, the "classic Whitesnake" tribute band, have announced the track listing for their DVD, ROUGH AN’ READY, which was released on 13th June 2005 via Classic Pictures. The ROUGH AN’ READY DVD footage was shot on 12th June 2004 at Burnley Mechanics in Burnley, England and includes a guest appearance vocalist Doogie White. Marsden, Moody and Murray are joined by a host of well known guest musicians to perform all the classic songs that launched Whitesnake into the stadiums of the world. The CD version of album was released on 23rd July 2007 by Sanctuary Records Group.

Recorded in front of a sold-out and fanatical crowd in June 2004, ROUGH AN’ READY recalls the golden age of Whitesnake with the very best of their blues based hard rock repertoire. Executed with passion and precision by the very members who first wrote and recorded this classic material and show how snake greats like "Ready An' Willing", "Fool For Your Loving", "Ain’t Gonna Cry No More" and "Don’t Break My Heart Again" should be played by the hands of the master craftsmen who first immortalized these tracks in the studio. Vocalist Dougie White makes a guest appearance on the worldwide hit song, "Here I Go Again". This CD edition was released on 15th July 2016 via Sanctuary Records. This eleven-song set sees Whitesnake guitarists Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody joined by bassist Neil Murray, and ex-Magnum’s Mark Stanway on keys and Jim Copley on drums. Taking over David Coverdale’s role is Stefan Berggren, who, like his colleagues, puts in a creditable performance. But it was never going to be the Cov’. You get a decent opener in ''Waiting In The Shadow Of The Blues'', and it’s much as you’d expect from then on. A slide-laden ''Slow An’ Easy'', the bounce of ''Ready An’ Willing'', the bluesy ''Crying In The Rain'' and a rousing ''Here I Go Again'' closer, with Dougie White chipping in. But ''Don’t Break My Heart Again'' has a risible singalong, the vocoder on ''Hit An’ Run'' adds little, and eleven minutes of ''Ain’t Gonna Cry No More'' is a tad overdone. This one more for stalwarts, rather than converts. This is a blast from the past. This is a really good album and a must have for a Whitesnake connoisseur. The M3's were very much the heartbeat of the original Whitesnake and the raw sound of the early days can be heard here, loud and clear. No hesitation to buy this album which has a terrific sound quality.
