The Company Of Snakes were an English rock band formed in 1998, by former members of the English rock band Whitesnake who were also members of The Snakes. They released two albums before morphing into M3 during 2004. The Company Of Snakes was formed by former Whitesnake guitarists Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody after the demise of its predecessor The Snakes. The band was completed by bassist Neil Murray, drummer John Lingwood and vocalist Robert Hart and later British singer Gary Barden. After adding keyboardist Don Airey, the band went on tour, playing concerts almost completely consisting of old Whitesnake songs. Singer Barden left the band soon afterwards and was replaced by Swedish vocalist Stefan Berggren. They toured throughout their history and released the live album HERE THEY GO AGAIN. The show was still sung by Barden, but his lead vocals were deleted and replaced in the studio by Berggren in 2001. Album was released on 25th January 2001 by Steamhammer/SPV GmbH. OK, let´s forget progressive rock, Gothic, prog-metal, neofolk, zeuhl, etc... It´s rockin´ time. We won't speak about David Coverdale - hey, this is general culture! - but if you should know that Dave had one of the most granite and solid bands in the history of rock´n´roll. He has recorded amazing albums who have forged the history of the Snake.

This double-disc captures live recordings of a very interesting band. The Company Of Snakes is a group composed of musicians who were all members of the "classic" lineup of Whitesnake. The group performs almost exclusively material that they wrote with that band, and it sincerely smokes. Although they do not have vocalist David Coverdale in the lineup, Stefan Berggren amply handles the vocal chores. This album should be a big hit with Whitesnake fans, of course, but its appeal should really be a lot wider than that, stretching into all hard rock fandom. Neil Murray, Micky Moody and Bernie Marsden have recruited Don Airey, John Lingwood and the young boy Stefan Berggren, to develop an extensive tour during two years. The shows at Wacken 2000 Festival and Oslo were the excuse to record this fabulous double CD. As you can imagine, most of the tracks included in the set list of The Company Of Snakes come from Whitesnake´s discography, so you will listen again to some very vigorous versions of "Walking In The Shadows Of The Blues", "Slow An' Easy", "Trouble", "Ready An' Willing", "Don´t Break My Heart Again" or "Lovehunter". For those who thought "Is This Love" or "Here I Go Again" were recorded by Vai, Sarzo, Aldridge and Vandenberg for 1987 CD, The Company of Snakes recreates both songs to prevail their property rights. No, Vai and Co. did the 1987 world tour, but they didn't record the CD. Along with Whitesnake´s all time hits, the band also plays some other covers, impressive Rainbow´s "Since You Been Gone", and some other surprises. And this is what you will find in this double live CD that sure will wake up your rock vein. In short, one could always have requested something more. The musicians are veteran warriors hardened in a thousand battles, except the singer, who seems a little bit inexperienced and, logically, they know how to offer what people want. Beautiful "revival" CD although.
