RIZE OF THE FENIX is the third studio album by American rock band Tenacious D. In February 2012, it was revealed that the title of the album would in fact be spelled RIZE OF THE FENIX and was released on May 15, 2012. In December 2012, the album was nominated for a Grammy Award For Best Comedy Album. It's no mystery why Tenacious D call their third album RIZE OF THE FENIX. JB and KG suffered the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune when they unleashed The Pick 0f Destiny in 2006, a feature film (complete with an accompanying soundtrack) that netted approximately no new fans and may even have cost them a few. Well aware of this bomb, it's imperative that the D fashion their third album (arriving a long six years after The Pick 0f Destiny) as a triumphant comeback, a FENIX rising from the ashes, if you will.

Few notes for those who've not yet picked-up this little nugget o'gold: The album brings the Milf and Trailer Trash hunting groups some great anthems! (''39'' and ''Low Hangin' Fruit''). It has some great tongue-in-cheek self-deprication (title track). For the bar brawler, crusader & misplaced chivalry crowd you've got ''Senorita'' and ''Throw Down''. For the hard working prep crews everywhere, ''Roadie'' is dedicated to you. For a self-serving ballad, ''The Ballad Of Hollywood Jack And The Rage Kage'' as well as They F***ed Our A**es finds cig lighter-tribute heights few have. For the blues-rock fusion crowd ''Rock Is Dead'' will certainly suffice. ''To Be The Best'' has to be a Flashdace tribute, silly, but fun. ''39'' is a great tribute to Bob Seger and MILFs everywhere. The only songs less than awesome was ''Deth Starr'' (seemed more of a Spinal Tap excursion...not bad, but not great). ''Flutes And Trombones'' was okay...a bit over the-top and under developed. ''Classical Teacher'' was a bit weird & homoerotic...but hey, who we are to judge? Congrats Tenacious D! Uh, there's a "clean" version of this album? Why? If you think… that all this nasty, sexy & sensory rockin’ attitude is offensive or it’s out of the rock/metal way of life, apart from being wrong, you’re not gonna enjoy a single minute of this release. On the other hand, if you haven’t lost your sense of humor… you feel & behave like a little kid at times… you like to drink, make nasty jokes, have sex & revel in listening to rock/metal music… surely, you can’t go wrong with RIZE OF THE FENIX… even the cover artwork with the dick-like Fenix is rib-tickling… cheers…
