When Paul Rodgers came to Tupelo back in the mid-90s, he got to laugh about how much harder it was to tour now as opposed to back in the day. The CD, PAUL RODGERS & FRIENDS: LIVE AT MONTREUX 1994, which released, is from that time frame. He really had to watch what he ate, stay in the best shape possible and watch sudden moves on the stage. The Middlesbrough, England singer may not move as fluidly as he once did but countless people find it hard to find anyone with a better voice. He's fronted some of the greatest bands in rock including Free, Bad Company, The Firm and Queen. It doesn't mater if he's doing blues, R&B or straight ahead rock - that voice is unmistakeable. On LIVE AT MONTREUX 1994 he covers some of his most famous tunes including "Wishing Well", "Fire And Water", "Feel Like Making Love" and "All Right Now." He also does fan favorites like "Mr. Big" and "Muddy Water Blues". He has been cited as a significant influence on a number of notable rock singers, including David Coverdale, John Waite, Steve Overland, Lou Gramm, Jimi Jamison, Eric Martin, Steve Walsh, Joe Lynn Turner and Jimmy Barnes. On this CD he's backed by some of the best, Queen's Brian May, Toto's Steve Lukather and Journey's Neal Schon. In 1993, Paul Rodgers released the acclaimed blues based album Muddy Water Blues with contributions from many special guest artists with a shared love for the blues. In July 1994 the tour in support of this album rolled into Montreux. The regular tour band was joined through the evening by a number of special guests to create a typically unique Montreux festival performance including an amazing finale of Hoochie Coochie Man where all the guests join in. As well as tracks from the Muddy Water Blues album there are all the classic tracks that you would expect from across Paul Rodgers highly successful career.

Fronting influential bands, such as Free, Bad Company, The Firm and Queen, Rodgers’ voice is imbedded into our culture and carried on the airwaves of FM radio, lending us a soundtrack to our daily lives. In July 1994, the Paul Rodgers rolled into Switzerland for the Montreux Jazz Festival. With his entourage of musicians that included many special guests, Rodgers performed songs from Muddy Water Blues and classic cuts from Bad Company and Free. The concert was recorded and captured on film for fans to enjoy for many years to come. The performances of a varied set of songs from Rodgers’ catalog of music provides insight into the singer’s influences. The strength of the performance starts with Paul Rodgers’ strong vocal prowess and continues with the heavy hitters that fill out the touring band.
