LIVE: THE LORELEY TAPES…… is a live album by Paul Rodgers of Free and Bad Company fame. It was recorded at the Rockpalast Open Air Festival, at Freilichtbühne Loreley, St. Goarshausen, Germany on 8th July 1995 and released in 1997. The album consists of blues standards previously covered by Paul Rodgers on his solo album Muddy Water Blues: A Tribute To Muddy Waters, as well as several Free and Bad Company hits. The album was later reissued as a part of 2-CD set, Now & Live, which packaged the album alongside Paul Rodger's 1997 studio album Now. This man has the best blues/rock voice and Free/Bad Company fans will love this. Great to hear him still singing these classic songs. This album has the best live versions of the mans back catalogue yet committed to tape - with a band that does do justice to their illustrious predecessors. Paul Rodgers is The Voice and this finds him in fine fettle. Compare this with Merchants Of Cool and figure out what changed.

The name Paul Rodgers will immediately ring a bell among fans of classic melodic hard rock. And that's for good reason. The talented singer-songwriter gave his voice to massively influential groups such as Bad Company and Free, being a key figure behind songs that remain radio staples to this day. With some years having passed since his heyday and the live format giving an opportunity for messing things up, though, listeners may worry about this particular album. Just a few seconds will immediately quash all of those concerns. Rodgers, one of a few rockers aptly nicknamed The Voice, does a fantastic job. Classics such as "All Right Now" and "Wishing Well" are here, naturally, but Rodgers' performance on some blues numbers that are far more obscure stands out as well. In total, this release is an absolute joy.
