A popular computer-animated web series that eventually found a larger audience via Netflix, Beat Bugs is the brainchild of Australian director, screenwriter, and producer Josh Wakely. Built around Wakely's lifelong love for the Beatles, the show revolves around the adventures of a charming quintet of bugs occupying an overgrown backyard in an American suburb. Each episode uses the music and lyrics of a Fab Four song to frame a story - Wakely spent three years trying to acquire the rights to the songs, all of which are performed by a wide array of artists, including Sia, Eddie Vedder, the Shins, James Corden, and P!nk. In 2016 Universal/Republic issued a collection of music from the series, BEAT BUGS: BEST OF SEASONS 1+2. The soundtrack to the animated Netflix Original Series BEAT BUGS was released on 4th November 2016 by Republic Records. The BEAT BUGS: BEST OF SEASONS 1+2 soundtrack marks the first time that the featured artists’ music from Beat Bugs Seasons one and two has been available for sale, and includes all sixteen featured-artist tracks plus the show’s theme, “All You Need Is Love” and four additional tracks recorded by the Beat Bugs cast. The series and its music continue to garner widespread critical praise. Like most enduring animation series, the writing in Beat Bugs is crafted to appeal to children as well as to their parents, with plenty of allusions to lyrics. By engaging with Beat Bugs kids are experiencing the music of the Beatles in a way their parents and grandparents never imagined. BEAT BUGS was created by Josh Wakely, following a ground breaking deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing, and is produced by his Grace: A Storytelling Company in conjunction with Beyond Screen Production and Thunderbird. Wakely personally selected each of the songs for integration into the series’ episodes and was closely involved in the music’s production, arranging and mixing. Label was formed by the principals of Beat Bugs’ production entities to release music from this series, as well as future film, television and theatrical endeavors, in conjunction with the company’s partners. BEAT BUGS is an animated show and Netflix Original Series about a charming band of five curious and adventurous creatures, who live and learn in a magical backyard, inspired by the stories and melodies of some the greatest Beatles songs of all time. This was Netflix's first original children's show and was translated in over 20 languages. Season one of the acclaimed new Netflix children's show BEAT BUGS has been a runaway success. This collection is a "best of" of the first season as well as tracks from the second season. The collection features all of the guest artist tracks, including artists like: Sia, Eddie Vedder, James Bay, P!nk, Rod Stewart, Of Monsters And Men, Aloe Blacc amongst others, as well as classic Beatle's titles performed by the cast.
