HIGH VOLTAGE is the first internationally released album by Australian hard rock band AC/DC. It contains tracks from their first two previous Australia-only issued albums. Originally released internationally on 14th May 1976 in the UK on Atlantic Records and in the US on ATCO Records, this edition of HIGH VOLTAGE has proven popular. It was re-released in 2003 as part of the AC/DC Remasters Series. This is AC/DC HIGH VOLTAGE 2009 box issue limited edition 9-track digitally remastered CD album and merch. HIGH VOLTAGE is the blueprint they've followed all their career - comprised of highlights from their first two Australian albums - 1975's T.N.T. and its 1976 follow-up, also entitled HIGH VOLTAGE. There are songs about rock & roll, slow sleazy blues, high-voltage boogie, double entendres, but there are monster riffs of Angus Young, so big and bold they bruise the listener upon contact. It's those riffs that give the music its backbone, the foundation for Bon Scott to get dirty, and rockers never got quite as dirty as Bon Scott. Scott sounded as if you could catch a disease by listening to him. He sounded like the gateman at hell, somebody who never hid the notion that lurking behind the door are some bad, dangerous things, but they're also fun, too, and he made no apologies for that. This is music so primal that it's enduring - it feels like it existed before AC/DC got there, and it will exist long afterward.

This platinum album returns digitally remastered with a 16 page booklet featuring photos and memorabilia. The international release includes only two tracks from the original release, with the rest of its songs being pulled from AC/DC's second album T.N.T. The international releases of HIGH VOLTAGE also had different album covers from the original. In 1976 along came five scruffy young men (the lead guitarist was maybe all of 18 and dressed in a schoolboy's uniform) from Australia playing some of the rowdiest, hardest, dirtiest rock of all time. Screaming "It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'N' Roll)," singer Bon Scott teased like a braggart. Sensing the rock community's growing dissatisfaction with bloated, epic-scaled bands, AC/DC were indeed a high-voltage act. Their drummer nailed the beat with fury, their bluesy guitar riffs mutated into something metallic and sharp-edged, and Scott's vocals took the shrillness of early Robert Plant to a leaner and meaner place. Most electrifying hard rock songs imaginable are the musical equivalent of touching exposed nerves with a rusty fork, and proves that white rock dudes can, contrary to popular belief, get down. Whew!
