AC/DC- THE STORY SO FAR … - CD- 2016- Laser Media Production- 5637500896410- 400 grn
Their distinctive brand of direct, no-nonsense hard rock has seen them amass an enormous and devoted international fan base, with over 200 million albums sold worldwide, yet their journey to the top was far from easy, and over the years the band have had to overcome a number of set-backs and tragedies. During 1974, AC/DC recruited vocalist Bon Scott and appeared on the ABC’s new TV music show Countdown, gaining nationwide exposure from their distinctive visual presence. Bon Scott provided a larrikin foil to Angus’s energetic schoolboy guitarist. AC/DC then relocated to London and built a growing international audience before singer Bon Scott died in the back of a car after a night of heavy drinking. Though devastated, the band recruited a new singer, Brian Johnson and then recorded one of the biggest-selling albums of all time, Back In Black. Though subsequent albums have not matched it in sales, Back In Black’s success helped AC/DC become one of the biggest concert attractions in the world, with elaborate staging, effects and noise. The 2015-16 tour, Rock Or Bust, was probably AC/DC most difficult. Malcolm Young could no longer perform due to dementia. Drummer Phil Rudd could not join the tour after his arrest in New Zealand. Singer Brian Johnson left during the tour with hearing problems and bass player Cliff Williams announced during the tour that he would retire. Following George Young’s death in October 2017, it is just Angus Young, the last brother standing. Unfortunately Angus Young has proved a somewhat elusive figure. A ''man of few words'', he works hard on his music, rarely drinks and doesn’t party after concerts. It’s not the stuff of wild anecdotes. Nevertheless, you are sure to enjoy this celebration of one of most successful musicians.
