Deep Purple’s GREATEST HITS 2009 European issue Deluxe Limited Edition 33-Track 3CD album set, released as part of Sony's GOLD GREATEST HITS Series, including live versions of the classics ''Black Night'', ''Speed King'' and ''Smoke On The Water''. Deep Purple one of our favourite bands, not only because their music is great and they are superbly well informed about their instruments, but in fact, they could perform live like no other band. Its so common for a band to have troubles playing live, because they don't know how to keep up the fluency and make sure that the audience doesn't lose interest. Deep Purple used their technical abilities to entertain the crowd, with many solos and impressive transitions into songs. Not only are the previously mentioned transitions extremely smooth, but the spontaneity of the concerts is brilliant. Ian Gillan is entertaining and he could sing extremely well live. The best of Deep Purple may be inconsistent and unsatisfying, but that's an accurate reflection of the group's career. Even though it's fitfully entertaining, GREATEST HITS features all of the highlights the group recorded. The Deep Purple reunion was the success beyond what anybody hoped for. The band had revitalized after many acrimonious years apart. They were fresh and rejuvenated. If the live recordings are anything to go by, then the concert tours was also dynamite. This is three CD collection from the iconic Hard Rock band. Most of the firm favorites are recorded live. Seven at Schleyer-Halle, Stuttgart and four from the NEC, Birmingham for the 25th Anniversary tour in 1993 featuring the classic line-up of Ian Gillan, Jon Lord, Ian Paice, Roger Gover and Ritchie Blackmore. And the NEC show was one of Blackmore's last ever with the band. He walked out after the Helsinki concert in November that year.
