Digitally remastered two CD edition of this live release from the veteran British Hard Rock band. LIVE ENCOUNTERS …. features Deep Purple's brilliant show in Katowice, Poland from 1996. Deep Purple - an English rock band formed in Hertford, Hertfordshire in 1968. Along with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, they are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock. The band also incorporated classical music, blues-rock, pop and progressive rock elements. They have sold over 100 million albums worldwide. The band have gone through many line-up changes and an eight-year hiatus (1976-84). Their second and most commercially successful line-up featured Ian Gillan (vocals), Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Jon Lord (keyboards), Roger Glover (bass guitar) and Ian Paice (drums). This line-up was active 1969-73 and was revived from 1984-89 and again in 1993 before the rift between Blackmore and other members became unbridgeable. The current line-up including guitarist Steve Morse has been much more stable, though Jon Lord's retirement in 2002 has left Ian Paice as the only original member. Deep Purple are considered to be one of the hardest touring bands in the world. From 1968 until today (with the exception of their 1976-1983 split) they continue to tour around the world. In 2007 they received special award for selling more than 150,000 tickets in France with 40 dates in the country in 2007 alone. In 2007, Deep Purple's Rapture Of The Deep Tour was voted #6 concert tour of the year (in all music genres) by Planet Rock listeners. Steve Morse is back on stage and a very long-haired Gillan throwing it all about. It seems such a long time ago the band came out blazing with everything to prove. The set list reveals an urge to explore new waters with five songs from the then brand new album plus three or four oldies new to most live audiences. There's no faltering the energy onstage. The whole band seem 'on' for this one, so there's plenty of good stuff to get into - including Roger Glover not wanting to end ''Maybe I'm A Leo''! Sadly, Ian Gillan's voice leaves a lot to be desired. However, the four instrumentalists deliver the goods throughout and it's a joy to relive that summer of 1996. Back in 2004 a Polish label Metal Mind Productions made a deal with Deep Purple’s management to release a 1996 performance in Katovice with limited distribution in Eastern Europe. The album, titled LIVE ENCOUNTERS …. saw the light of the day on DVD, CD and vinyl, all of which eventually found their way to Amazon and was available worldwide. Metal Mind Productions was re-released a remastered version of the album on CD on 19th October 2009. Once again, it is claimed it available in Eastern Europe and Greece only. The digipak version include complete show, while regular jewel case version skip (for some reason) ''No One Came''.
