1984 saw the long-awaited reunion of the classic Deep Purple Mark II. It was the first time they had been together since 1973. They recorded a brand new studio album, Perfect Strangers and headed out on tour. This show was filmed in Sydney, Australia and is the only full length concert film of the band at this time. It's a stunning concert with the band in incendiary form. The setlist mixes then new tracks from the "Perfect Strangers" album with favourites from the early seventies culminating in the brilliant "Smoke On The Water" finale. This is without doubt one of the finest Deep Purple concerts ever filmed and a must have for their legions of fans. Tunes here you'll could get enough of were the ass-kicking "Nobody's Home", "Strange Kind Of Woman", the (then) modern-day classic "Perfect Strangers", the earth-shattering "Knocking At Your Front Door", "Lazy", the thirteen-minute in-your-face "Child In Time", the fifteen-minute foot-stomping "Space Truckin'", "Black Night", the rocking "Speed King". The DVD is nothing short of -pure brilliance-. You will just love these archive live releases of past tours as such - especially when they came some years after - when no one expects them to get a legit release. Highly recommended.

What a surprise and a treat. You never saw this coming. An essential live testimony of the first MKII reunion. This is a "live" recording of Deep Purple MK II on the Perfect Strangers tour. They were back together for the first time in many years and they all had grown up a bit, well except for Ian Gillan. Even if you can hear some rust in the gears and already the beginning of Ian Gillan anticlimax. They had put out a great long play and they were full of energy and probably a bit full of themselves. Ritchie Blackmore and Jon Lord still have that great chemistry and the guitar and Hammond interplay is outstanding. Though there are no 20 minute workouts like days long past but these old pros just plain rock. Deep Purple were (are) the greatest rock and roll band ever. Mr. Blackmore can wipe the floor with any rock, psychedelic, progressive, blues guitarist ever, period. If you like hard rock and the guitar/Hammond interplay doesn't get your toes tapping, you are dead. Seriously dude, dead. A DVD of the concert comes with the two disc CD release. How cool is that? PURPLE FOREVER! BUY IT.....ENJOY IT.....WISH YOU WERE THERE....
