The Doors- GOOD ROCKIN’ TONIGHT: Legendary Radio Broadcast 1972- CD- 2017-
- Digital Legends Production- 5503817169892- 400 grn
The Doors' active career ended in 1973, their popularity has persisted. According to the RIAA, they have sold 33 million certified units in the US and over 100 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling bands of all time. The Doors were the first US- band to accumulate eight consecutive Gold and Platinum LPs.
Don't let the front cover fool you, this was recorded a year after Jim Morrison had died!
PERSONNEL: Robby Krieger (guitar, vocals); Ray Manzarek (keyboards, vocals); John Densmore (drums); Jack Conrad (bass); Bobby Ray Henson (guitar/percussion).
There's no denying that without Jim Morrison's moody persona and dark, poetic lyricism, the Doors would struggle to keep their place at rock's elite table, their two post-Morrison albums (1971's 'Other Voices' and 1972's 'Full Circle') steering the band towards a mixture of rootsy, down home, guitar rock and excursions into near jazz-fusion territory as they headed for more sunny pastures, showing what a great musical unit they still were. Recorded for a radio broadcast in 1972, this album shows that the Doors could still cut it as a great live band. On this recording they were supported by Jack Conrad (bass) and Bobby Ray Henson (guitar/percussion). The sound quality is very good bootleg standard, perfectly capturing that smokin', early-70's vibe, as the band performed 8 tracks with a running time of just over an hour. For too long, the Doors' post-Morrison albums have been unjustly ignored, and while they cannot rank equally alongside their 1967-1971 heyday, there's gold in those hills for whoever seeks them out. Buy them. Then try this.
