Ultra rare post-Jim Morrison live broadcast, recorded in Aragon Ballroom, Chicago, Illinois July 21st, 1972, just after the release of the last Doors album ‘Full Circle’. The opening night of what is to be The Doors final tour is a lively show delivered with some praiseworthy musicianship from the entire band. Manzarek frequently makes comments about how good it is to be home in Chicago and his high spirits are contageous. They open with a bustling version of 'In The Eye Of The Sun' and conclude with an uptempo encore of 'Light My Fire' which features a rock-steady beat and swells with some fine jazz-flavoured instrumentation.

This was the first show of the "Full Circle" tour, the last tour they did before disbanding, which concluded at the Hollywood Bowl in September that year. Of course they have reunited many times since then, but guess we should consider this as the last tour. Believe it or not, much prefer this tour and album than the Jim Morrison ones. Here the band was somehow on a creative peak, mixing rock, blues, a bit of jazz and funk. A great blend of music. Verdillac is such a great listen! Incredibly there are no shows currently on DIME with the post-Morrison line-up. Hope have filled the gap. This is a nice
radio broadcast from WGLD in Chicago. Good listen, shortie but goodie. "Now comes Krieger and his high school Spanish" says Manzarek in the presentation of "The Mosquito". It defines the environment and time in which they were standing, a new stage, full of lights, an example is this song "The Mosquito". Post Morrison concert, where they perform several songs from their albums "Other Voices" and "Full Circle", including only "Light My Fire" and "Love Me Two Times" from their previous stage. Here we can see a change in style of the sound of "The Doors", which is close to what we could call fusion rock, we can also see Ray and Robby as singers. Listening to the versions of these songs live, and comparing them with the studio versions, you can read a more aggressive sound live, Robby's guitar more distorted (and takes a more fundamental role), as well as John's drums. On this tour, songs from the album "L.A. Woman" could also have been included in the repertoire, without a doubt, a great surprise would have been to have heard Ray singing "The Changeling", "Love Her Madly" or "Riders On The Storm", in the 72' tour. The one that deserves a separate note is the new version of "Love Me Two Times", with a different structure, more rock, a very rare version, an experimentation with a perfect result, there is also an extended version of "Ships With Sails", with a John's drum solo. An unmissable album, very rare, where we can listen to songs that were made at the time when Jim was in Paris, therefore they were made for his voice, one could undoubtedly imagine his voice on some songs, can you imagine Jim singing "The Mosquito"?
