BRIGHT MIDNIGHT ARCHIVES.
These gigs recorded in Los Angeles, Hollywood, California, USA on 21st July 1969 and are known as the shows that pulled the group back from the brink. Jim, in full beard and dressed as a train engineer puffing on a cigar and playing the anti-rock star behind dark glasses and a few pound heavier that he was a few months ago. Ray, John and Robby were ready and after a short intro that big pounding beat begins and it's a musical circus of sound: "Back Door Man", "Break On Through", "Soul Kitchen", "When The Music's Over", "Who Do You Love" ending with a really long "Light My Fire" and the complete and always surrealistic: "Celebration of the Lizard" that was used on the "Absolutely Live" double LP of 1970. The audience is wild and worked up to a fever pitch but the band stays in control and focused and Jim was in a good mood and right here at the Aquarius Theater, became the bluesman that he had always wanted to be. This set and the second performance are the proof that The Doors were four musicians that when working together as a complete band delivered a show that was as good as any show could be. This set is the warm-up for the next show that night, and it's a great beginning.

BRIGHT MIDNIGHT ARCHIVES.
The Aquarius Theater Shows (two show a performed on July 21st and one show from the 22nd of July) are regarded as The Door's definite "Comeback" performances. 1969 was a year of revolution in the US culture, and to some on the far right, The Doors (Like John Lennon) were considered "Public Enemy Number One". It was us against them, in all the best & worst ways that can be imagined. These shows were recorded on a multi-track board for a live album. There were no riots or arrests over the course of these shows. Just very good playing by the band and some of Jim's finest recorded vocals. And because of that many have said that Jim was on a: "tight-leash" here and played a good boy for these shows. Well, according to Ray Manzarek, that did NOT happen, and Ray went on to say that if someone had told Jim to watch what he said and did on the Aquarius Stage, it would have triggered him to behave badly. We will never know Jim's take on this story, BUT, he DID sing a bunch during these shows and now we have these 4 CD's as proof.
