Now This Compilation First Time Was Released On SACD On 2nd June 2015.
Audio Fidelity’s multi-channel SACD release schedule gathers pace with what is likely to be the most popular disc issued to date: THE BEST OF THE DOORS. This is the eleven-track compilation that was originally issued in 1973, and the hybrid SACD includes both the original Quad Mix and the two-channel stereo mix. The Doors’ music has been issued in surround before of course, for the Perception Box Set back in 2007 but that was 5.1 and this is the original 4.0. Audio Fidelity has done an excellent job on its release of this SACD that was originally released in Quad 4.0 vinyl back in the day. It's definitely one of the better Quad's that had back in the day and this SACD captures it all minus the pops 'n ticks that plague vinyl copy after all these years. Riders on the Storm - in multichannel - is a real treat to the ears. On this particular SACD - there is a nice separation for the 4 channels. The vocals are font and center while the instruments share rear and front. And all are in good balance. Definitely adds depth to the music - revealing things that hadn't heard on the vinyl for sure. A great release!

The Doors was an American rock band which formed in Los Angeles, California, United States in 1965. The band consisted of Jim Morrison (vocals), Ray Manzarek (organ), Robby Krieger (guitar) and John Densmore (drums). In this configuration, the band released six albums, all of which were successful and released two US #1 hit singles - 1967's "Light My Fire" and 1968's "Hello, I Love You". After Morrison's death at his apartment at 17 Rue Beautraillis Paris in 1971, the band continued on as a trio, releasing two more albums that were ignored commercially and disliked critically before disbanding in 1973.
