CLASS Of '55: Memphis Rock & Roll Homecoming is a collaborative studio album by Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, and Johnny Cash. It was released on May 26, 1986, by America/Smash Records, a subsidiary of Polygram Records. Digitally remastered pressing of this album that reunited four Rock 'N' Roll superstars who had originally recorded for the legendary Sun Records label: Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis. Originally recorded in 1986, the line-up was similar to the original 'million dollar quartet' recordings from three decades earlier, with Orbison replacing Elvis. Other famous names helped out in the studio including John Fogerty, June Carter Cash, Ace Cannon, the Judd's, Dave Edmunds and others. 10 tracks including 'Sixteen Candles', 'Keep My Motor Running' and 'Birth of Rock 'N' Roll'. CLASS Of '55: Memphis Rock 'n' Roll Homecoming brings Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, and Carl Perkins (all members of the Sun Records stable during its heyday) together for an all-star recording session, which finds the quartet tackling a mixture of oldies and new material. Highlights include renditions of Perkins' "Birth of Rock and Roll," "Sixteen Candles," Waylon Jennings' "Waymore's Blues," Cash's "I Will Rock and Roll With You," and John Fogerty's "Big Train (From Memphis)."
