Remastered & Expanded with 6 previously-unreleased audio tracks and unseen rehearsal footage of 14 songs including "Circus'' and ''My Father's Eyes''. 1992’s UNPLUGGED sold more than 19 million copies worldwide and won six GRAMMY® Awards, including Record The Year and Album Of The Year. In 2013, Eric Clapton, touring in celebration of his 50th year as a professional musician, released a remastered version of UNPLUGGED, including an essential deluxe version that adds six bonus tracks, rehearsals, and several songs not featured on the original album. Early versions of “Circus” and “My Father’s Eyes” (in two takes) precede their appearance on 1998’s Pilgrim. A cover of Big Maceo Merriweather’s “Worried Life Blues” and alternate takes of Jerry Lynn Williams’ “Running On Faith” and Robert Johnson’s “Walkin’ Blues” fill out the extras. This expands a great album, where there’s no such thing as too much of a good thing. The acoustic reworking of “Layla” remains the centerpiece of the original disc, with “Tears In Heaven” (originally recorded for the Rush soundtrack) the emotionally resonant timepiece. (It was written, with Will Jennings, about Clapton’s pain and suffering after the death of his four-year-old son Conor.) Timeless means timeless. In retrospect, the critical acclaim and public reception of UNPLUGGED helped to pave the way for Eric's return to an all blues format with From The Cradle (1994) and allowed him to record far more personal albums, as well feature an "unplugged" set on subsequent tours. Stunning live performances such as "Driftin'" attest to the strength and development of Eric's acoustic playing. The acoustic set, like the orignal UNPLUGGED broadcast, now serves as a platform for Eric to perform songs that influenced him like "When You've Got A Good Friend," "Alabama Woman," "Goodnight Irene" and "Man Of The World," and to re-work songs from his back catalog such as "I've Got A Rock N Roll Heart," "Wonderful Tonight" and "Lay Down Sally." Lastly, Eric's episode of UNPLUGGED clearly demonstrated that a man armed only with an acoustic guitar can seriously rock out.
