Various Artists- LETHAL WEAPON 2: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack- CD- 02.08.1989-

The soundtrack was released on Warner Bros. Records and was written and performed by Michael Kamen, Eric Clapton, and David Sanborn. Get out your popcorn; put away your brain cells. Late 1980s with special LETHAL WEAPON brand ingredients down to its last neutron (lonesome solo comedic sax scale every time Roger shits his pants, Riggs brutalises his collarbone or testicles off some kerbstone, Leo upsets some Teutonic boors over missing nickels and dimes), George Harrison's 'Man Of The World' sounding 'Cheer Down' pops up early (track one in fact) to throw some lemon flavoured acerbic light among the Atari, Calvin Klein, and cheeseburgers shade. Messers Kamen, Clapton, and Sandborn decide to paint by numbers, dropping tools before lunchtime. Who can blame them with semi-animated Dynasty shoulder pads handling production. Geogre Harrison - 'Cheer Down': A great track that fit nicely with his other comeback material of the time. The Beach Boys - 'Still Crusin'': Speaking of comebacks... A decent follow up to Kokomo that I think I prefer. Randy Crawford - 'Knockin' On Heaven's Door': A good soulful take on the Dylan chestnut. Michael Kamen, Eric Clapton and David Sanborn - Riggs, The Embassy, Riggs & Roger, Leo, Goodnight Rika, The Stilthouse, The Shipyard/Knockin' On Heaven's Door: If you've seen these films, you know this music. Kamen’s orchestra rises and falls with emphasis on the bass parts, Clapton’s guitar represents Riggs firey emotions or melancholy, Sanborn’s saxophone in turn represents Murtaugh. Good stuff and stands well enough on its own without the visuals.
