It's hard to say what went wrong here, but as a whole, this project just didn't jell. Maybe it was recording in England with someone other than David Anderle producing. All songs are originals except for the odd inclusion of the Bobby Darin classic "Splish Splash." This is just not up to par for Marc Benno, but of interest to hardcore fans. There are great songs on CD, the groovy Country-Blues opener "Hot Foot Blues" burning holes, perhaps not in my shoes, but always in my socks, drummer Jim Keltner plays straightaway with a lot of coolness, the slide guitar of Mr. ERIC CLAPTON is very sharply, perfect suitable to Benno’s casual vocal-performance. The next sentimantal tune "Chaising Rainbows" comes with beautiful Dobro sounds playing by Clapton too, the following tune "Me And A Friend Of Mine" comes with a beautiful guitar solo by Albert Lee, the most of the great guitar-playing accounting for more than a half on by him. The legendary Glyn Johns produced this one with a very warm sound and more pop oriented than Benno's predecessors. (They are also great too). Last but not least, this beautiful record is a timeless companion for more than a half of my life. Who follows me?
