RICK DERRINGER'S ROCK SPECTACULAR is non-stop excitement culled from a unique night-long concert, taped live at The Ritz, in New York City. Rick Derringer hosted the show and, with his band, was the perfect back-up for each of his special guests. Together, Rick and his friends create a video that generates and sustains an energy level only possible when superstars pool their talents. Rick Derringer's 1982 ROCK SPECTACULAR show was an all-star beanfest featuring guest appearances from Karla DeVito, Ted Nugent, Southside Johnny, Carmine Appice, and Tim Bogart, with every one of them taking a turn in the limelight. It's an amazing show, the kind of gig that bleeds testosterone and energy, and highlighted by so many adrenalized moments (DeVito's "Is This A Cool World, Or What?," Nugent's "Cat Scratch Fever," "Oh, Carol," "Rock & Roll, Hoochie Koo") that it races past faster than you could ever expect a 12-song CD to pass. And Derringer's own band is superlative - guitarist Alan Merrill sparring with Derringer himself across "Easy Action" is a joy to behold. But it's the interaction with the guests that made this such a dramatic evening and such a powerful disc, while the sound quality is raw enough to place you smack in the middle of the room, with the sweat flying and the bodies lurching. And, that particular night, there was no better place to be.

Over more than four decades guitarist/vocalist Rick Derringer has played alongside some of the finest musicians in Rock & Roll in the music business. For this performance, recorded live in concert at the Ritz nightclub in NYC in 1982, Rick has invited some of his famous friends, such as: Ted Nugent, Southside Johnny (Asbury Dukes), Karla deVito (Meatloaf), and Carmine Appice & Tim Bogert of Vanilla Fudge Young guitar great, vocalist and entertainer Rick Derringer was just 17 when his band The McCoys recorded the No.1 hit Hang On Sloopy in the summer of 1965, knocking Yesterday by The Beatles out of the top spot. The McCoys had enjoyed four years of successful touring, when Rick merged his talents with Johnny Winter in 1969 forming Johnny Winter And (And referring to The McCoys). In '71 Rick was featured on three records, Johnny Winter And, Johnny Winter And-Live and Edgar Winter's White Trash. Eventually, the busy Derringer joined Edgar Winter's White Trash full-time. Derringer's solo album, All American Boy was released in '73. It included the hit single ''Rock And Roll, Hoochie Koo'', which by now had become his signature tune. In 1976 Rick created the Derringer Band. He released four albums and in '83 returned to his solo career with the album, Good Dirty Fun. Throughout the 70's and into the new Millennium, the multi-talented and popular Derringer appeared on numerous albums with artists such as: Alice Cooper, Richie Havens, Todd Rundgren and Steely Dan, and Kiss, and once again, Edgar Winter. Starting in 93 Derringer also regularly recorded fine albums of guitar-driven Blues music, a habit he continues to do until now. In 2001 he ventured back into Rock & Roll with Vanilla Fudge superstars Carmine Appice and Tim Bogert, releasing D-B-A (for Derringer, Bogert & Appice) with vocals, writing and instrumentals shared by all three. Recently the hardest-working man in Rock music joined Ringo Starr's "All Starr Band".
