Early collection demonstrating the fusing of roots Latin American & Afro-Cuban rhythms with blues rock. Carlos Augusto Santana Alves known simply as Carlos Santana (born July 20, 1947 in Autlán de Navarro in the state of Jalisco, Mexico) is a virtuoso guitarist, composer and singer with dual Mexican and American nationality, pivot of the groups Santana Blues Band and Santana Brothers. He is one of the most famous contemporary guitarists in the world. Carlos Santana also sings, although he has only used his voice on rare occasions in his latest albums. However, it can be heard on the title Africa Bamba which appears on the Supernatural album. Carlos Santana is considered today as one of the creators of Latino rock and a precursor of world music. In 2008, on the occasion of the release of the Multi Dimensional Warrior compilation, Carlos Santana announced his retirement from the stage to become a pastor. From an early age Carlos Santana became familiar with music. His father was a musician in a traditional Mexican mariachi band. He introduced him to the violin, which he abandoned at the age of 8 for his first guitar. It was also at this time (1955) that he and his family left for Tijuana and that he discovered the instrument that made him famous throughout the world, the electric guitar. At 17, Carlos Santana perfected his self-taught training by performing in the clubs of Tijuana, while his parents had just immigrated to San Francisco. After a year spent scouring the bars of Tijuana, the young guitarist decided to leave to join his parents. Arriving in San Francisco, he learned English and immersed himself in the blues. At the age of 18, he became Jimi Hendrix's assistant and was noticed by him. Indeed, he mistakenly takes the guitar from Jimi Hendrix who amused, then asks him to play something. He performs and surprises his audience with a superb solo, the legend was born. In 1966, the Santana Blues Band (group created by Carlos Santana, its leader) blew up the streets of San Francisco from its very first performances. He rocked and made the world dance with many titles, such as Samba Pa Ti, Black Magic Woman (Fleetwood Mac cover), Oye Como Va (Tito Puente cover), Europa and Evil Ways, or more recently with Smooth, Maria Maria, Illegal and Into The Night.
